What We Do

Ophthalmology is the study of the human eye and the medical and surgical treatment of its related disorders. The Division of Ophthalmology in the Department of Surgery of The MetroHealth System provides state-of-the-art care for adults and children with a variety of eye disorders and systemic diseases.

The Division of Ophthalmology faculty, staff, and residents care for patients in the Specialty Services Pavilion. In addition, care is also provided at a number of conveniently located outpatient facilities of The MetroHealth System, including the MetroHealth Outpatient Surgery Center and the MetroHealth Buckeye Health Center. Elective operating room surgical cases are completed throughout the week in the main operating room at MetroHealth Medical Center, as well as at the MetroHealth Outpatient Surgery Center.

The division is also actively involved in teaching Ophthalmology to the students of Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine.
